Mohawk Students' Association

Student Rep Committees

Our Student Representative Committees are one of the many ways you can get involved on-campus through the MSA.

Each Committee is led by an MSA Board of Director, and work to tackle different issues, and accomplish different goal. However, the main goal of all the Committees is the same – to improve the college experience for all Mohawk students and to ensure all student voices are being heard.

Each committee meets regularly to discuss opportunities and issues relevant to all Mohawk College campuses. Check out the list of committees below for descriptions and to connect with the Committee Chairs to express your interest in joining.

If you’re interested in joining one of these Committees, apply today or reach out to msainfo@mohawkcollege.ca if you’d like more information.

The Professional Development (PD) SRC provides a space and opportunity to network, collaborate and share life experiences and involvement within or outside the Mohawk community. Activities may include providing feedback to different Mohawk College departments, organizing job fairs and networking events with college staff and partner organizations that seek to hire students like yourselves! This group will help you develop leadership, accountability, project management and communication skills through practices that classrooms don’t always cover. Employers are more willing to interview or select students who have these skillsets for jobs than those who do not. What a better way to meet new people, elevate your student experience while developing the skills to land your future job or career!

To join, send an email to kevin.wong3@mohawkcollege.ca with ‘Professional Development SRC Signup’ as the subject.

The International Students SRC will provide an opportunity for students who come from various parts of the world to create a better college experience for themselves and other international students – inside and out of the MSA and College. Some of the activities which you may be involved in include:

  • Addressing your challenges as an international student and working collaboratively with the MSA and College to develop solutions,
  • Providing suggestions and feedback to help the MSA navigate the needs and interests of International Students,
  • Educating other International Students regarding the policies and procedures to be followed in Canada as an International Student (Work Permit, Tax forms, TRV, Course Completion Letter, etc.),
  • Taking part in workshop sessions hosted by the Professional Development Committee to gain a deeper knowledge about the current job opportunities inside and outside of Mohawk College.

To join, send an email to ashik.ashik@mohawkcollege.ca with ‘International Students SRC Signup’ as the subject.

Members of the Wellness SRC will actively work to improve and manage their wellness, and the wellness of other Mohawk students. This committee is meant to be a space where members can advise and act on wellness issues that affect students (student safety, mental wellness, emotional and physical safety, psychological safety, etc.). Some initiatives within this committee may include organizing wellness walks, developing your own and helping other students develop a wellness plan, and planning wellness weeks.

This SRC is a space for students who are interested in sustainability and executing initiatives within and outside the college community. Joining our SRC is a really good way to meet new people and make a difference during your time at Mohawk. Your thoughts and ideas could have a lasting impact on future initiatives made by the college! Past committees have already supported incredible developments, including our Community Garden, and Roof Top Pollinators and Bike Programs. Activities could include developing your own sustainability plan, collaborating with outside partnerships and organizing student-led events like tree planting and garbage cleanups.
