Director At Large
The MSA Director at Large is considered a part-time, honourarium paid position, requiring up to 15 hours per month including any meetings required of the position.
General Responsibilities (high level)
- Represent the student membership as Owners
- Understanding the needs of all Mohawk students, across the various satellite campuses, through:
- Idea exploration via student advocacy issues and concerns
- Focus on the larger student population initiatives rather than individual needs
- Lead the Executive Director and MSA President regarding MSA Strategic Priorities through assessment and direction
- Vision, mission, and values of the MSA
Position Specific Responsibilities (high level)
- Attend and prepare for all Board meetings (available to meet in person)
- Attendance of College and MSA specific committees
- Prepare reports for specific committees attended for Board meetings
- Assistance with Level 2 Academic Appeals with MSA Staff
- Assisting MSA President and Staff with the coordination and follow-up of:
- AGM, Townhalls, etc.
- Adhere to all MSA policies
- Vote at Board meetings in the best interest of the MSA, recognizing that the Corporation should embody the best interests of the students at Mohawk College
- Other daily tasks as reasonably assigned by MSA President
Requirements
This position runs from the official hiring date until April 30th, 2023. Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements to hold the position:
- Eighteen (18) or more years of age;
- an ordinary member of the Association;
- Not employed as a full-time employee of the Association, unless they agree to resign their paid position as an employee of the Association if elected;
- Enrolled full-time in a program, paying student ancillary fees to the Mohawk Students’ Association;
- Not have any outstanding debts with the College and Association;
- Have an overall passing grade point average of at least sixty percent (60%), and may only have one failure, regardless of course load;
- Not have any current offences on their student record under the College’s Student Behaviour Policy and/or for violations of any of the Board’s policies on code of conduct; and
- Not have either resigned or been removed from office as part of the MSA Disciplinary Policy, subject to the appeal process outlined in the policy.
