Four Breakfast Ideas That are Nutritious But Delicious

Breakfast, one of the most important meals of the day. The meal that fuels your body to get up and get moving – and the options are seemingly endless. It can be a coffee and bagel, a bowl of cereal, some toast and peanut butter or even a full bacon, eggs and hash brown meal. There are so many choices out there but many come with high volumes of sugar that will make you feel full short term but come with a crash before you even get close to lunch time.

We have put together some ideas that will give you a healthy and good start to your day without the needless crash, all while tasting amazing.

Breakfast Smoothies for the Creative Side

Don’t worry if your smoothie doesn’t look like a pretty picture, as long as it tastes good!

Time to get creative! Smoothies can be your own creation but provide a great opportunity to include so many different healthy ingredients. Start with some yogurt (for any vegans, coconut yogurt works great too), then let your brain start turning and try different combos of fruits and other ingredients. Blueberries, strawberries, bananas, peanut butter and dark chocolate? There are so many combinations to try, every day can be a new adventure for your tastebuds.

Spice Up Those Bland Oatmeal Bowls

Oatmeal is another one of the many healthy breakfast options options you can have. They’re a gluten-free whole grain (pure oats are gluten-free) and a great source of fibre. However, those small instant oatmeal packs can be loaded with sugar, so make sure to buy ‘good old fashioned’ oatmeal. You can add things like berries, mixed nuts and some brown sugar to make it less bland.

So just like the smoothies, get creative with what you add to your oatmeal bowls and you will get a great kick start to your day.

Even if your cereal isn’t the healthiest, adding fruit like bananas on top of it can help.

Everyone growing up had their favourite cereal, but many of us can admit it probably wasn’t the healthiest choice out there to wake up to. Some of the options out there are basically boxes of pure sugar and we know they are great once in a while, but to get the most out of your breakfast, we need better options. Not to worry, there are many great-tasting cereals that are also healthy. Go for cereal options that are high in fibre and low in sugar.

A Classic That can’t be Beat

Eggs, that’s it. This original great breakfast food that goes with almost anything – bacon, hash browns, bagels, sunny side up, scrambled, poached, over easy and hundreds more ways to enjoy them. Eggs are one of the best sources of choline, a very important nutrient for brain and liver health.

They are also super quick to make!

Not a big breakfast eater? Try to have something small so you have the energy you need to start the day.
