Montreal is such an incredible city filled with stunning architecture, rich culture, and delicious food. The city hosts 144 festivals yearly. Driving or taking the mega bus are the two cheapest alternatives for transportation from Ontario. With over 300 places to stay, Airbnb offers exceptional rates on rental properties. If you do decide to visit the birth place of the poutine, be sure to check out Schwartz’s Deli for the best Montreal Smoked meat, indulge in Montreal bagels and dip into the city’s dynamic nightlife.

Blue Mountain

You can escape Hamilton for a weekend by driving 2.5 hours to Blue Mountain. Primarily known for their ski resort, the city is also quite charming even for non-skiing individuals. The village is packed with restaurants and shopping, or you can choose to relax at any of the nearby spas; – the Scandinave Spa offers a variety of spa packages, or alternatively, you may just purchase entry access to the outdoor thermal baths. Airbnb also offers a variety of chalets that can be rented, housing 8+ people. This would be an excellent group getaway!

Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls has so many options for things to do and its only a 40-minute drive from Mohawk College! You can check out Clifton Hilton to participate in Haunted Houses, Mazes, Wax Museums and more. Alternatively, all year round Niagara-on-the-Lake offers Wine Tours – it’s possible to book a package that includes accommodation and wine tours. During the winter months, Niagara hosts the Winter Festival of Lights in which they display a 4-minute fire work show for free. Students would be wise to check Groupon in advance for deals on hotels, Wine Tours and other fun activities.

The home of boutiques, theatres, and Justin Bieber has just enough to offer for a great weekend getaway. A suggestion would be looking into which shows are playing at the Avon Theatre. Alternatively, if you are a chocolate lover, you can explore the chocolate trail for $30. It is a self-guided tour that offers free samples at each location.
